Brexit: introduction of full border controls postponed

The postponed controls, which will not be introduced on 1 July 2022 after all, include the following

  • further sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) controls on EU imports currently exported at destination, which should be moved to the border control post (BCP)
  • The submission of security declarations (S&S) for EU imports
  • Veterinary certificates
  • Restrictions on the import of chilled meat from the EU

The UK Government will now consider how these remaining controls will be implemented in an improved way. Further details will be published in a new control regulation, which is due to come into force at the end of 2023.
