Toll in Belgium from 01.04.2016

From April 2016, a distance-independent toll will be introduced in Belgium, in the Flemish Region, the Walloon Region and the Brussels-Capital Region, for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes on motorways, other trunk roads and bypasses. The daily flat rate (vignette) is thus cancelled. This is a satellite-based toll system. All lorries concerned must be equipped with a functioning on-board unit (OBU). An OBU costs €135.00. Costs are incurred as follows, for example: HGVs with EURO 5 and payload > 32 tonnes: in the Brussels-Capital Region: 21.3 ct/km and on motorways, other trunk roads and bypasses: 12.8 ct/km (http://www.viapass.be/fileadmin/viapass/documents/download/tarievenD.JPG).
